Zicam Warning! Stop using it!


In another example of dangerous "natural" products, Zicam has been pulled from the shelf because 130 people have lost their sense of smell due to Zicam. "Natural" products are not tested to be safe, and could be quite dangerous, especially for children. Use them with great caution.

Swimming lessons might help kids be safer


This has been a long standing debate. Concerns have been that making young kids too comfortable with water might make the more at risk. This study found that swimming lessons actually made toddlers safer.
The key point: Never leave a child alone in or near a pool, even for a moment. Be very careful with floaties, as they can put children into risky situations.

Use your sunscreen!


Now that summer is here, just a reminder to use your sunscreen. SPF 30 is probably good enough, because you get little increased benefit of going any higher. Water resistant and hypoallergenic is also desirable. Reapply frequently for good protection. Then get those kids outside!
